Disqus publicly launches its new private profiles feature
A few weeks back I published some of my new findings about the development's of Disqus' new profile feature. For those that didn't read article or don't feel like reading it, I discovered that one of the Disqus team members that I followed had their profile set to private before anyone else could set their profiles to private. I also did some research into what the effects of the private profile feature did in terms of users who were following that person, their actual profile, etc.
Disqus has made it incredibly easy to enable the new private profile feature.
How to enable the private profile feature
- Navigate to disqus.com/account to access your account from the Disqus dashboard.
- Click the "Profile" tab to the left of the popup.
- Scroll down to the bottom of that area and there should be a check mark to enable the feature.
- Save changes
That's it! You have successfully enabled the private profiles feature. While you will still be able to see your profile and your comment history, other users who followed you before or users who want to look at your profile will no longer be able to see your comment history. However, they will still be able to see your social links, your username/real name, your bio, your site link, and your location.
